Serious Learning. Real Change. Surprisingly Fun.

Motivational Interviewing training and consultation with Amanda Young Wilson

Why MI?

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based, person-centered approach that helps people strengthen their own motivation and commitment to change.

Across public systems, healthcare, behavioral health, and corporate settings, professionals are often tasked with helping others make difficult changes—while facing resistance, ambivalence, and time pressure.

MI helps by:

Reducing resistance and defensiveness

Increasing engagement and collaboration

Strengthening internal motivation rather than imposing external pressure

Improving outcomes in healthcare, behavioral health, justice, and organizational settings

Enhancing workplace communication and cohesion

When implemented well, MI improves not only outcomes—but workplace culture. Conversations become more respectful, focused, and effective.

And perhaps surprisingly, learning MI can be deeply energizing. When professionals feel skillful and aligned with their values, the work becomes lighter—even when the subject matter is heavy.
